PICK YOUR OWN SUNFLOWERS!

One of Suffolk's most anticipated summer attractions is set to return as Rougham Estate hosts its popular Pick Your Own Sunflowers experience on Monday 27th July. For a limited few weeks, visitors can wander through thousands of vibrant sunflowers, pick their own stems to take home and enjoy a relaxed day out in the Suffolk countryside. With free entry and parking, and no need to book, this annual event has become a favourite for families, couples, photographers and anyone looking to make the most of the summer.

This year, the sunflower field has moved to a new location, just south of junction 45 of the A14, around three miles east of Bury St Edmunds, while remaining just as easy to reach. Signs will be located from the A14 and the what3words is others.flaunting.anchorman

Alongside the impressive display of sunflowers, visitors can enjoy picnic areas, deckchairs, giant straw bale pyramids, sandpits, pedal tractors, football goals, bug hunts and plenty of picturesque spots for photographs. Ice creams andrefreshments will also be available, with face painting offered on selected days. Visitors are invited to pick as many or as few flowers as they like, with stems priced at £2 each, £8 for five or £12 for ten. Those bringing their own secateurs are welcome to do so, or they can borrow a pair at the entrance for a small refundable deposit. As a working Estate, the opening date is carefully chosen to coincide with the flowers reaching their best, with the display expected to remain at its peak for around two to three weeks, depending on the weather.

Owner George Agnew, says, “Every summer the sunflower field becomes somewhere people come to slowdown and enjoy the countryside. Whether you're visiting with family during the day or joining us for one of our Sundowner Evenings, it's a wonderful way to make the most of the season and create lasting memories."

The sunflower field is open daily from this coming Monday (the 27th) including weekends and bank holidays, from 9am-5pm. Visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic, camera, sun protection and suitable footwear if the weather has been wet. Well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome in the designated picnic area and on the dedicated dog pathway through the field, although they are not permitted within the main sunflower maze.
