A vibrant new exhibition is coming to Woodbridge featuring the works of Antony Gormley, Tracey Emin, Maggi Hambling, Yinka Shonibare and Joe Lycett, among others including an exciting line-up of local and regional artists.
The Summer Exhibition, held at New Street Market from 23rd July to 30th August, will create quite a stir in the town. "We wanted to create something that captures the excitement and inclusivity of the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, while celebrating the artistic community we have here in Suffolk," says co-owner of New Street Market and exhibtion co-curator, Sam Walker (pictured below, right).
The exhibition will transform part of New Street Market into a welcoming gallery space where creativity, community and conversation come together. Drawing inspiration from the Royal Academy's long tradition of exhibiting artists at every stage of their careers, the show celebrates diversity in style, medium and perspective.
Zelie Walker-Noble, co-curator of the exhibition, says, “By bringing together local artists alongside more established names, we're creating an opportunity for visitors to discover new work, support independent artists and enjoy art in a relaxed, welcoming setting."
Many of the artworks will be available to purchase, offering collectors and first-time buyers the chance to take home original pieces while directly supporting the artists behind them.
Located in the heart of Woodbridge, New Street Market has become a major East Suffolk destination for independent makers, food, design and creativity. Visitors can enjoy great coffee, cakes, brunch and lunch from the cafe, and stay into the evening for dinner and cocktails.
Whether a seasoned collector, an occasional gallery-goer or simply looking for inspiration during a summer day out, the Summer Exhibition promises something for everyone - admission is free and a Preview Evening runs from 5-8pm on Thursday 23rd July. Opening times: Tue–Sat, 9am–5pm; Sun 10am–4pm.
